Symbolism even more...
Piggy serves as the connection to the adult world, the voice of reason and the Superego. He is constantly trying to control Jack and make him see reason. He is always pestering Ralph with ideas about the leadership system, and useless bits of advice. He and the Pilot symbolize how the connection to the adult world is slowly breaking down. Piggy is never tempted by savagery; his hair never grows like the other boy's. Everyone else’s hair, is long and knotted now, but his remains short. His name (Piggy) is connected with jack's chant, and desire to kill a pig. His desire comes from the Id his desire for power, and to live without rules. This appears in the form of him wanting to kill a pig, thus wanting to gain victory over PIGGY the Superego who he is constantly in competition with. Jacks hunting chat "kill the pig..." is relating to his desire for power over the superego piggy.
The idea of the Lord of the Flies being related to the Cold war has already been published, but I am going to explain it here because it is interesting. In the Cold War the free world was fighting communist Soviet Union...This theory reveals an event later in the book so I am going to wait to write more.
