Piggy is a slightly whiny boy, of about Ralph's age. He constantly is talking to Ralph about some new idea he had about say like how to make a sundial on the island. Ralph obviously is more concerned with being rescued and staying alive on the island then what time it is so he often taunts Piggy about these ideas or acts indifferent. to his ideas.
Piggy wears glasses, which are used to start the signal fire, against his will. They steal his glasses, and start the signal fire, which goes out of control through the forest. He Picks up the conch and shelters it from Jack; he is clinging to hope that makeshift government that they boys are using will work.
He is afraid of Jack, and is constantly being told to "Shut up fatty" whenever he offers advice. Jack has even hit him when he accosts him for letting the fire die out.
